Information: Major Peter Martin Connellan, Hampshire Regiment, killed in action, was the only son of Major J. H.F.H. Connellan, Coolmore, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, who was formerly a Captain in the Hampshire Regiment. Major P. Connellan was gazetted 2nd Lieutenant in January, 1901, a first Lieutenant in November, 1903, and Captain in 1907. He served at Aden in 1903-4, and took part in the operations in the interior. He acted as Brigade Signalling Officer to the Aden Boundary Delimitation Column, and in 1909 Adjutant of the third Battalion of the Hampshire Regiment, and acted as Adjutant in the Special Reserve from January, 1911, to January, 1914.
