Information: Lieutenant Derek C. H. Richardson, 12th Royal Lancers, mentioned in despatches of October 19th, is the only son of Mr. Charles H. Richardson, J.P., Cedarhurst, Co. Down. He was educated at Eton and Sandhurst, and entered the army in 1907. He accompanied his Regiment to the front in August, and has been in the midst of the fighting ever since. He took part in the brilliant charge made by his Regiment on August 28th, and again on October 31st, when the 12th Lancers drove the Germans out of a small town at the point of the bayonet - an exploit which gained for them unlimited praise from Sir John French.
