Information: Lieutenant George Brooke, Irish Guards, who died from wounds received while with the Expeditionary Forces in France, was the eldest son of Sir George Brooke, Bart., of Summerton, Castleknock, Co. Dublin. Mr. Brooke saw service in the South African War and received the Queen's Medal with three clasps. He was formerly Gentleman-in-Waiting to Lord Cadogan, Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, and married in 1907, Nina, only daughter of Lord Arthur William Hill. Mr. Brooke was in his 38th year, and rejoined his old regiment at the beginning of the present war. During his period of retirement he lived at Ballyfad House, Inch, Co. Wexford, and though fond of hunting, his chief recreations were shooting and the breaking of gundogs.
