Information: Lieutenant Norman Ramsay, 4th Dragoon Guards, killed in action in France, November 4th. Lieut. Ramsay was born in April, 1880, and was the second son of the late Captain John Ramsay, R.E., and Mrs. Ramsay. He was related to, and named after, Norman Ramsay who distinguished himself at Fuentes d'Onoro, in 1811, during the Peninsular War. Lieut. Ramsay was educated at Cheltenham College, and entered Cooper's Hill in 1898. Taking a direct commission in the Royal Field Artillery, in January, 1900, he served in South Africa from February, 1901, to the end of the war, being mentioned in despatches. He retired from the Army at the end of 1903, but volunteered for service at the beginning of the present war, and in September received a commission in the 4th Dragoon Guards and sailed for France on October 18th.
