Information: Major George Geoffrey Prendergast Humphreys, who died from wounds received in action October 30th, was the youngest son of the late Mr. T. W. D. Humphreys, of Donoughmore House, Castlefinn, Co. Donegal. He received his commission in the Welsh Regiment in July, 1893, was transferred to the Bombay Command of the Indian Staff Corps, and received all passes and certificates associated with the Indian Service, His corps was the 127th Queen Mary's Own Baluch, Light Infantry. He served tor a considerable time with the Sind Volunteer Rifles as Adjutant, and on promotion he took over a Double Company in the 127th. His war record is of a specially brilliant character. In 1897 he was Staff Officer commanding the troops in Uganda during the operations there, and received the medal with clasp. He served in East Africa, proceeding to China with his regiment in 1903.
