Information: Lieutenant Samuel Barbour Combe, North Irish Horse, who was killed on the 29th September, 1914, on refusing to surrender to a party of Germans who surrounded him. He was a son of Mr. Abram Combe, J.P., of Donaghloney House, Co. Down, and son-in-law of Captain Holt Waring, D.L., Waringstown, of the North Irish Horse. Lieut. Combe was well known in Co. Down, where he had been for some years Master of the Co. Down Staghounds.
