            Information: Major Herbert Arthur Herbert-Stepney, Irish Guards, who was killed in action on the 7th November, whilst commanding the Irish Guards. Major Herbert-Stepney obtained his first commission in the Coldstream Guards in 1898, and became Lieutenant in December, 1899, and was transferred to the Irish Guards in February, 1901. He was Adjutant from the 1st January, 1902, to the 31st December, 1903. He was promoted to the rank of Captain in September, 1904, and received his majority in February, 1912. He served in the South African War from 1900 to 1901, where he was slightly wounded, and received the Queen's Medal with three clasps.
