Information: Lieutenant Colonel the Hon. George Henry Morris, Irish Guards, who was killed in action on the 1st September, 1914. He fell in an engagement fought by the Fourth Brigade near Villiers Cotterets, towards the end of which a final charge by the Irish Guards and Grenadiers was made, Colonel Morris leading. He was a brother of Lord Killanin and heir presumptive to the barony. Born in 1872, he joined the Rifle Brigade when he was twenty years of age, became Major in the Irish Guards, and was promoted Colonel in 1913. He was D.A.A.G. in Belfast in 1904, and Staff Captain Headquarters of the Army, 1904-6. Colonel Morris saw active service in India, 1897-8, and also went through the South African War. His decorations included the Queen's Medal with four clasps. Last year he married Dora Wesley, daughter of the late Mr. J. Wesley Hall, Melbourne.
