Information: Col. Thomas Joseph O'Donnell, D.S.O., R.A.M.C., who has been mentioned in despatches. He was born in January, 1858, and was the third son of the late Mr. P. O'Donnell, High Constable of the Barony of Glenquin, of Killeedy, Ashford, Co. Limerick. He was educated at St. Stanislaus College, Tullabeg, King's County, which was amalgamated with Clongowes Wood College in 1886. Colonel O'Donnell served with the Egyptian Expedition, 1881-2, for which he obtained the medal, Khedive's Star. He served with the Kimberlev Light Horse under Sir C. Warren. Bechuanaland Expedition, 1885-86. and with the Inniskilling Dragoons in the operations in Zululand, 1887-88, and with the 3rd Batt. Rifle Brigade, Tirah campaign, 1897-98, for which he obtained the medal with clasp. He also served with the 12th Royal Lancers during the South African War, being mentioned in despatches twice and obtaining the medal with six clasps, and King's Medal with two clasps. He was decorated for attending the wounded under fire.
