Information: Captain Hugh Lefroy Crofton, 1st Batt. Inniskilling Fusiliers, who was killed in action at the Dardanelles about the 26th May, was the eldest son of Captain Duke Crofton, R.N., D.L., and Mrs. Crofton, of Lakefield, Mohill, County Leitrim, and a grandson of the late General Sir J. H. Lefroy, K.C.M.G., C.B., R.A. He received his commission as Lieutenant in the Inniskilling Fusiliers in October, 1906, and was gazetted Captain on September 4th, 1914. He had served with his regiment in Crete, Malta, North China, and India.
