Information: Captain D. Gaussen, 2nd Batt. Highland Light Infantry, who was killed in action in France on May 17th, belonged to an old Irish family, and had a wide circle of friends in Dublin, where for many years he was attached to the Headquarters Staff. His mother resides at Upton, Bagenalstown, and his wife, whom he leaves surviving, was Miss Marguerite Kelly, daughter of the late Judge Kelly. Though only in his 40th year, Captain Gaussen had seen much active service during the operations on the North-West Frontier of India, including the attack and capture of the Tanga Pass, for which he received the Medal with clasp, and afterwards in the South African War, for his services in which he received the Queen's Medal with three clasps and the King's Medal with two clasps.
