Information: Capt. Harry Holdsworth Kelly F.R.G.S., Royal Engineers, who was killed in action on October 24th, was the youngest son of Lieut. H. H. Kelly, of Montrose House, Southsea, and grandson of the late Mr. John Collum, of Bellevue, Co. Fermanagh. Captain Kelly was educated at Rugby School, and entered the Army in 1889. He served with the Egyptian Army from 1903 to 1913, he was Resident Engineer for the construction of the town and harbour of Port Sudan and received the 4th class of Osmani for his services in connection with this work. For the last five years of his service in Egypt he was Inspector of Roads and Communications, and was awarded the Sudan Medal in 1911. He acted as Intelligence Officer in the expedition against the Beir and Annauk tribes in 1912, also as Chief Commissioner of the Sudan Ugunda Boundary Commission receiving the 3rd class Osmani. He also had the third class Mejidieh. In the years 1907, 1911 and 1913 he spent his leave in exploring Abyssinia, and when the present war broke out he accompanied the expeditionary forces in the 38th Field Company Royal Engineers.
