Information: Major George Emil Bolster, R.F.A., who was killed in an engagement near Ypres was the eldest son of the late Surgeon-Major T. G. Bolster, A.M.S., and nephew of Deputy-Inspector General George Bolster, R.N., of Springville, Kanturk, Co. Cork. He entered the service in November, 1895, was promoted in 1898, obtained his captaincy in 1901, and his majority in 1912. While making a reconnaissance he and his escort of only three men, were shot by the Germans. Major Bolster was a well known sportsman and frequently hunted with the Duhallow and Kildare Hounds.
