Information: Brigadier-General Norman Reginald McMahon D.S.O., entered the service in May, 1885, became Captain in November,1896; Major in November, 1901; and was gazetted Lieut.-Col. in May, 1911. He served in the Burmese expedition, 1886 to 1887, as special service officer, receiving the Medal and clasp. In the South African war he was attached to the staff, was present at the relief of Ladysmith, took part in the action at Colenso, also at the Tugela Heights and at Pieter's Hill. He was mentioned in despatches, received the Queen's medal with five clasps, the King's Medal with two clasps, and the D.S.O. He is the son of the late General Sir Thomas McMahon, 3rd Bart., C.B.
