Information: Brigadier General F. S. Maude, C.M.G., D.S.O. (1900), late Coldstream Guards, who has been mentioned in Sir John French's despatches, son of the late General Sir Frederick Maude, V.C., G.C.B. He entered the army in 1884, passed the Staff College 1896, obtained his Majority in 1899, Lieut.-Colonelcy in 1907, and Colonel in 1911. He was promoted Brigadier-General this year. He served in the Sudan 1885; took part in the South African War, and was present during the operations in the Orange Free State and in the Transvaal. He was mentioned in despatches, receiving the Queen's medal with six clasps and the D.S.O. He was chief Staff Officer of the 5th Division at the Curragh 1912 to 1914, and was Staff Officer with the Third Army Corps from August to October of this year, when he was appointed Brigadier-General commanding the 14th Infantry Brigade.
