Information: Rev. William Joseph Finn, 1st Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers, was killed in the Dardanelles whilst gallantly attending to the wounded. He insisted on landing with the troops in face of a terrible cannonade of field artillery, machine-guns and rifles. Father Finn was requested to remain on board the troopship Clyde, but insisted on accompanying his men, and was killed in the boat before they reached the shore. In the same action the Colonel, the two Majors, and all the senior officers were either killed or wounded. Father Finn was on the Yorkshire Mission before joining the army.
