Information: Captain Harold Gordon Wilmer, 14th King George's Own Ferozepore Sikhs, who was killed in action at the Dardanelles, was the elder son of Colonel John Randal Wilmer, 91 Warwick Road, London, and husband of Mrs. Violet Wilmer, 23 Pembroke Park, Dublin. He had seen active service in East Africa in 1903-4, when he took part in operations in Somaliland and received the Medal with clasp. He entered the Indian Staff College in February, 1914, but rejoined his regiment at the outbreak of the war and left with it for service in Egypt, was shortly afterwards appointed Staff Captain to the Indian Infantry Brigade and proceeded to the Dardanelles, where he took part in the memorable landing in April last.
