Information: Captain John Wilfrid Jenkinson, M.A., D.S.C., 12th Worcestershire Regiment, who was killed in the trenches in Gallipoli on June 7th, was in 1909 elected Lecturer in Comparative and Experimental Embryology to the University of Oxford and to a Research Fellowship at Exeter College. His death is an irreparable loss to the world of science, for he was a pioneer in a most important part of embryological discovery. Soon after the outbreak of the war he was offered a commission. He was attached to the 2nd Royal Dublin Fusiliers and fell shortly after landing at the Dardanelles. Captain Jenkinson married a daughter of the late Mr. John Stephenson, of Ballyrohan and Ballydineen, County Limerick.
