Information: Lieutenant Robert Carlyle Baile, Royal Engineers, who was killed in action at Loos about the 24th October, was the eldest son of the Rev. G. W. Baile, L L.B., Consular Chaplain, Pernambuco, Brazil, and grandson of the late Robert Baile, M.A., Head Master of Ranelagh School, Athlone. He was educated at Ranelagh School and Trinity College, Dublin, where he graduated in Arts and Engineering. He was Resident Engineer to the Great Western Brazil Railway, but on the outbreak of war resigned and returned to England, where he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division, subsequently obtaining a commission in the Royal Engineers.
