Information: Lieutenant Frank Moran, Royal Munster Fusiliers, who was killed in action in France on August 23rd, 1916, was the elder son of the Rev. Francis Moran, Ballynahinch, Co. Down. He entered Trinity College, Dublin, in June, 1911, and had a very distinguished university career. He was a member of the O.T.C., and shortly after the outbreak of the war he received a commission in the Royal Munster Fusiliers. He obtained the “Distinguished” certificate in machine gunnery, and was appointed machine gun officer for his battalion.
