Information: Second Lieutenant John Ross Moore, 3rd Connaught Rangers (attached to Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers), who was killed on September 9th, 1916, whilst gallantly leading an attack on a village held by the enemy, was the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Moore, Ulster Bank House, Ballina, Co. Mayo. He was educated at The Palace School, Bewdley, Worcester. Shortly after the outbreak of the war he joined the Artillery, and was wounded in Flanders in August, 1915. In January, 1916, he was gazetted to the 3rd Battalion, Connaught Rangers, and again went to the front in July last. He was in his 21st year when he fell.
