Information: Lieutenant R. B. Buchanan, 5th Royal Scots Fusiliers, was the younger son of Mr. R. Eccles Buchanan, C.E., Londonderry, and Mrs. Buchanan, Warwick Terrace, Leeson Park, Dublin. He was gazetted to a Lieutenancy in the Royal Army Medical Corps on August 16th, but finding he would not be permitted to go on active service until he had completed his medical course, he applied for a transfer to the Royal Scots Fusiliers. He landed at the Dardanelles on May 30th and almost immediately proceeded to the trenches where he was killed.
