Information: Lieutenant William Patrick Heffernan, 3rd Royal Irish Regiment, who was killed in action at Kichebourg, France, on May 9th, in his 29th year, was the second son of Dr. Wm. K. Heffernan and Mrs. Heffernan, Killenaule, Tipperary, and 11 Harlow Moor Drive, Harrogate. Lieutenant Heffernan was a well known athlete in Trinity College, winning, amongst other valuable prizes, the Viceroy's Cup, presented on the occasion of the King's visit in 1911. He also possessed high musical talent, and was an expert horseman, well known in the hunting field in Tipperary, He was wounded at La Bassée in January, but returned to the front, where he had only been a short time when he fell in action.
