Information: Lieutenant Colonel Derrick A. Carden, who died of wounds received in action in Flanders on May 25th, was the youngest son of the late Sir John Carden, Bt., of Templemore Abbey, County Tipperary, and Lady Carden, of Weston, Straffan. He was educated at Wellington College, and was gazetted to the Seaforth Highlanders in 1895. He took part in the Soudan campaign, receiving the Medal and two clasps, and in the North-West Indian Frontier expedition in 1908. He was wounded at the Aisne in September last, but returned to the front in December.
