Information: Captain James Hugh Christie, Royal Irish Regiment, was killed in action in France on May 24th. He was a son of Mr. Hugh Christie, of Woolton Manor, Yorkshire, and married in 1907 Miss Phyllis Beecher, daughter of Colonel Sullivan Beecher, 2nd King Edward's Own Gurkhas. Captain Christie served in the South African War and received both the King's and Queen's Medals. He was recommended for the Victoria Cross, but his colonel was shot in the same action before his intentions could be carried out. Captain Christie hunted for several seasons with the Duhallows, Limerick, Tipperary, Muskerry, South Union and several other packs.
