Information: Lieutenant George Rowland Patrick Roupell, 1st Battalion East Surrey Regiment, who was recently awarded the Victoria Cross, is the second son of Colonel F. Fyler-Roupell, of Chartham, Wrestbourne, Bournemouth. Lieutenant Roupell was born in Tipperary when his father, Colonel Fyler-Roupell, was with his regiment at that town. Lieutenant Roupell, on securing his commission, joined this regiment at Kinsale and accompanied it from Dublin, whence he proceeded to the front in the early weeks of the war.
