Information: Major E. Neville Townsend, 2nd Duke of Wellington's Regiment, has been mentioned in Sir John French's despatches, and is now a prisoner of war in Germany. Major Townsend served in the South African War and was present at the relief of Kimberley and the operations in the Transvaal and Orange Free State, in the course of which he was dangerously wounded and received the Queen's Medal with six clasps. Major Townsend left Dublin in August, 1914, with his regiment for the front, and was severely wounded at the battle of Mons.
