Information: Lieutenant Andrew Hubert Fairbairn, 3rd Batt. Royal Irish Regiment, attached to the 2nd Batt., died on June 5th last at Oost Xieukerke of wounds received in action near Ypres on May 24th. Lieut. Fairbairn was in his 22nd year, and was the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Fairbairn, 25 Campden Grove, Kensington, London. He was educated at Chehenham College, where he was a member of the Officers' Training Corps, and at Wye Agricultural College in Kent. Shortly after the outbreak of the war he obtained his commission in the 5th Royal Irish Lancers. After serving for some months on embarkation duty at Dublin he was gazetted to the 3rd Royal Irish, being subsequently attached to the 2nd.
