Information: Major Edgar Philip Conway, 6th Battalion Munster Fusiliers, has been killed in action at the Dardanelles. Major Conway, who belonged to the 2nd Battalion, had 15 years' service, having been gazetted Second Lieutenant on 18th April, 1900. In November last he was appointed Major of the 6th (Service) Battalion. Major Conway saw a good deal of the fighting in South Africa in 1900. He was present during the operations in the Orange River Colony, and was severely wounded. He was mentioned in despatches and received the Queen's Medal and two clasps.
