Information: Lieutenant Guy W. Burrowes, 6th Royal Munster Fusiliers, who was killed in action at the Dardanelles on August 16th, 1915, was 28 years of age, and belonged to a well known Cork family, his father being a celebrated oarsman. Prior to the war Lieut. Burrowes spent several years in Central Africa, from where, immediately war was declared, he volunteered and was gazetted Lieutenant in the 6th Munsters in January last, and appointed machine gun officer. He was a son of Mrs. Burrowes, Carrig Lee, Sunday's Well, Cork.
