Information: Major William Eastwood, 6th Batt. Royal Irish Rifles, who has been killed in action at Gallipoli, was a son of Major Eastwood, Castletown Castle, Dundalk. Major Eastwood entered the Royal Irish Rifles from the Militia in February, 1900. He obtained his Captaincy in 1908, and in January last was detached from the regular battalions for service with the 6th (Service) Battalion. He served through the South African War, and received the Queen's Medal with three clasps and the King's Medal with two clasps.
