Information: Second Lieutenant Francis Evans Bennett, 7th Batt. Royal Munster Fusiliers, was killed in action at the Gallipoli Peninsula on August 7th last. Lieut. Bennett obtained his commission in the 6th Batt. Royal Munster Fusiliers in April and was afterwards transferred to the 7th Batt. He went out with the 10th Division in July. He was shot whilst gallantly endeavouring to assist his Captain, who had been mortally wounded. Lieut. Bennett was educated at The Manor School, Fermoy, and The Abbey, Tipperary, and was a son of Mr. Frank Bennett, Cregane Manor, Rosscarbery, Co. Cork.
