Information: Second Lieutenant Donald James Grubb, 5th Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, who was killed in action at the Dardanelles on August 15th, 1915, was the only son of Rev. James and Mrs. Grubb, Donegall Square, Belfast, and nephew of Captain J. J. Grubb, late Royal West Surrey Regiment. Lieutenant Grubb was educated at Wesley College, Dublin. On the outbreak of the war he joined the Queen's University (Belfast) Officers' Training Corps, and was gazetted to the Inniskillings in September, 1914, and landed with his regiment at Suvla Bay on August 7th last. His Commanding Officer in writing of Lieut. Grubb says “he met his death while bravely attending the wounded at great personal risk under a very heavy fire”.
