Information: Major C. H. Tippet, whose coolness and bravery inspired his junior officers and men in the action at Suvla Bay, in which he fell, was a son of the late Mr. H.V. Tippet, Stone Grange, Maltoy. He was originally in the 4th Batt. Royal Dublin Fusiliers, and served as Major through the last two years of the South African campaign, receiving the Queen's Medal with five clasps. On the outbreak of the war he rejoined his old regiment as Major in the 7th Batt., and sailed for the Dardanelles on July 11th. His son, Captain H. C. C. Tippet, is serving with the 4th Batt. Royal Dublin Fusiliers.
