Information: Lance Corporal Charles E. Dowse, was the third son of Canon and Mrs. Dowse, Seafield Lodge, Monkstown. He was educated at Trent College, Derbyshire, where he was a member of the Officers' Training Corps, and on the outbreak of war he joined the 7th Dublins, and though offered a commission in another regiment he refused to leave his “Pals”, and was with them in the landing at Suvla Bay and the subsequent fighting until he fell in action on August 16th, within a few months of his 20th birthday.
