Information: Lieutenant Thomas Alfred Peel M.B. B.S., R.A.M.C., was the third son of Mr. Joshua E. Peel, solicitor, Armagh. Previous to the outbreak of war Dr. Peel was house surgeon in a large infirmary in Stoke-on-Trent. He was amongst the first of the surgeons to volunteer his services for his country, and in August, 1914, was appointed to a commission in the R.A.M.C. A very short time afterwards he was gazetted as Surgeon-in-general to the 5th Dorset Regiment. This regiment was attached to the 11th Division, which was sent out to the Dardanelles. Lieutenant Peel was wounded in action on August 19th and died on 24th August, 1915. His eldest brother, Mr. John A. Peel, solicitor, and Coroner in the mid-division of Co. Armagh, in September, 1914, joined the Royal Engineers, Ulster Division, as a despatch rider.
