Information: Second Lieutenant James Gordon Caruth, 5th Batt. Royal Irish Rifles, was killed in action in France on September 26th last, in his 19th year. He was educated at Oakfield Preparatory School, Rugby, and Cheltenham College, where he played in the School Cricket 2nd XI,and Football in the 1st XV. He was champion gymnast of the School in March, 1914, and represented his school at Aldershot for the Public Schools Shield in April, 1914. On the outbreak of the war he was gazetted to the 5th Batt. Royal Irish Rifles and went to France, attached to the 2nd Batt. in July, 1915.
