Information: Lieutenant Vesey A. Davoren, 7th Suffolk Regiment, was wounded in the action on the Hohenzollern Redoubt on October 13th, but continued to lead his Company until killed by a shot from a machine gun. He was educated at St. Paul's School, London, and Trinity College, Dublin, where both his grandfather, Colonel Vesey Davoren, J.P., and his father, Major Vesey Davoren, were educated. He had just taken his degree when the war broke out and immediately volunteered, obtaining his commission in the 7th Suffolk Regiment. *Please see Additional Information below*
Additional information: Although this serviceman is described in "Our Heroes" as having been killed on the 13th October 1915, he was actually wounded. After the war he emigrated to California to recover from the effects of gassing and remained there. He changed his name to Vesey O'Davoren and became a famous Hollywood actor.
