Information: Lieut. Colonel Bertram Perceval Lefroy D.S.O., 2nd Batt. Royal Warwickshire Regiment, who died on September 27th, from wounds received when leading his men into action, on the 25th, was born in May, 1878. He was the second son of Thomas Charles Perceval Lefroy, of 11 Ashburn Place, London, and Isabella Napier, daughter of the late Alexander Hastie, of Carnock, N.B. He served in the South African War, and received the D.S.O. for gallantry at the defence of Forts Prospect and Itala, where he was severely wounded. He held the Queen's Medal, with five clasps. At the beginning of August, 1914, he went out on the staff of the 1st Division, and remained seven months. He then served on the staff of the 26th Division in England until the beginning of July, when he returned to the Front to command the 2nd Batt. Royal Warwickshires. He was three times mentioned in despatches, and received the Legion of Honour. Lieut. Colonel Lefroy was a grandson of the late Very Rev. Jeffry Lefroy, Dean of Dromore.
