Information: Lieutenant Benjamin George MacDowel, 1st Batt. Connaught Rangers, who was killed in action in Flanders on September 22nd last, was the second son of Dr. and Mrs. MacDowel, The Mall House, Sligo. He was educated at Aravon, Bray, and Aldenham School, Herts, and was a young man of splendid physique, 6 feet 3 inches in height, a good golfer, football player, and a great all-round athlete. He was gazetted to the Connaught Rangers in October, 1914.
