Information: Captain Montagu Vernon Gore Langton, Irish Guards, third son of Mr. and Mrs. Y. F. Gore-Langton, of Padbury Lodge, Buckingham, was born in 1887, and first joined the Irish Guards in 1907, but retired With the rank of Lieutenant in 1910. On the outbreak of war he rejoined, and being wounded at Ypres was sent home in November, 1914, but rejoined at Warley in January, 1915, and went out again in May, with the rank of Captain. He was awarded the Military Cross for “conspicuous gallantry on the night of August 10th, 1915. when with an orderly and one bomber he carried out a successful and daring reconnaissance”. Captain M. V. Gore-Langton was shot by a sniper while on duty in the trenches on October 10th.
