Information: Rev. John Gwynn S.J., Chaplain to the Irish Guards, died on October 12th last. He had been wounded in January last, and though very much weakened as a result of his wounds and the exposure to which he was subjected whilst performing his duties as Chaplain, he returned to his regiment. Father Gwynn was highly esteemed by all for his fearlessness and devotion. He never thought of himself, but exposed himself under heavy fire time and again to bring comfort and succour to the wounded. Father Gwynn received part of his education at Tullabeg College and entered the Jesuits in 1884. He studied in Louvain and Austria and was a professor in Clongowes and a member of the Governing Body of University College, Dublin.
