Information: Private William F. A. Matthews, who was killed in action at the Dardanelles on September 13th last, was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthews, Northern Bank House, Grafton St., Dublin, and was educated at St. Andrew's College, Dublin. He stroked Junior Crew for Neptune Rowing Club in 1913 and 1914, was a member of Wanderers' Football Club, and one of the under 15 team that won the Schools' Cup for St. Andrew's College. On the outbreak of the war he with many of his friends joined the “Pals” Battalion, and gave his life for his country.
