Information: Captain Cecil A. Dowse M.B., eldest son of Canon Dowse, of Monkstown, was educated at Trent College, Derbyshire, and Trinity College, Dublin, where he graduated in Arts and Medicine in 1914. On the outbreak of the war he joined the R.A.M.C., and went to France early in May, 1915. He was mentioned in Viscount French's despatches and awarded the Military Cross. During his college days he played Rugby football with Monkstown Club, and represented Ireland in 1913 and 1914. His brother, Charles E. Dowse, 7th Batt. Dublin Fusiliers, was killed in the Dardanelles on August 16th, 1915.
