Information: Second Lieutenant Norman J. Patterson, Royal Field Artillery, who has been mentioned in Sir John French's despatches for gallantry and distinguished conduct, is the only son of Dr. R. D. Patterson, Cranogue House, Caledon, Co. Tyrone. He was educated at Armagh Royal School and Edinburgh School of Medicine, where he was a member of the O.T.C. Soon after the outbreak of war he offered his services and received his commission in the Royal Field Artillery. He left for France shortly afterwards, where he was attached to the 29th Battery, 3rd Division. Lieutenant Patterson went through the severe fighting at Hill 60, Neuve Chapelle and Ypres, and was severely wounded at Hooge in August last.
