Information: Captain James Auchenleck Dane, R.F.A., who has been mentioned in Sir John French's despatches for distinguished conduct in the field, is a member of an old Fermanagh family, being the only son of His Honour the late Richard Martin Dane, K.C., County Court Judge of Co. Mayo, and M.P. for North Fermanagh from 1892 to 1898. He was gazetted to the Royal Garrison Artillery in 1902, but subsequently exchanged into the Royal Field Artillery. He received his promotion as Captain in the Special Reserve of the R.F.A. in December, 1912, and on the outbreak of the war he rejoined the R.F.A., and has served continuously in France since the British Expeditionary Force landed there.
