Information: Colonel Cecil Allanson, Gurkha Rifles, who has been awarded the Distinguished Service Order, and who has also appeared amongst the New Year Honours as the recipient of a C.T.E., is a son of Mrs. Allanson, 40 Pulteney Street, Bath, and a nephew of Mr. W. H. Lyons, D.L., Strandtown, Belfast. He joined the Royal Artillery in 1897 and acted as A.D.C. to the Lieutenant-Governor of Bengal from 1899 to 1901. He subsequently served in many important capacities in India, until July 1915, when he rejoined his regiment on active service in the Dardanelles.
