Information: Lieutenant James Mackay, 1st Batt. Gordon Highlanders, who has been killed in action, was a son of Mr. Wm. Mackay, 63 Castlereagh Street, Belfast. He was educated at the Royal Academical Institution, Belfast, where he had a distinguished career as a student. Last year he won the Carnegie Research Scholarship of £100. In November, 1914, he received his commission in the 3rd Gordon Highlanders, and on being sent to the front was attached to the 1st Battalion.
