Information: Lieutenant William John Edward Morton, 5th Batt. Royal Irish Rifles, was killed in action at Hooge on September 4th, 1915. He had assisted his father, Mr. Wm. Morton, Hollydene, Holywood, in his office in Belfast, but when war was declared he immediately volunteered and was gazetted to the 5th Royal Irish Rifles, and went to the front on May 1st, 1914, where he received his Lieutenancy. He had been serving in the trenches from May until September.
