Information: Captain H. K. Oakes, Canadian Rifles, who was killed in action in France, was a son of the late Lieutenant Colonel F.A. Oakes and grandson of the late Rev. O. S. Kellett, The Rectory, Ballyconnell. Captain Oakes had taken part in many engagements, and was about to return home for a short leave when he fell in action.
